Day 2: Dublin to Kilkenny – Irish National Stud & Hawk Walk at Lyrath Estate
Depart Dublin in style with your private driver as you head south into the scenic heart of County Kildare for a morning at the Irish National Stud & Gardens. This unique destination offers an ideal mix of education and exploration, with a chance for kids to meet Ireland’s most famous retired racehorses, stroll through the lush Japanese Gardens, and enjoy interactive exhibits in the visitor centre. It’s a serene and inspiring stop that delights animal lovers and curious minds alike.
In the afternoon, your family will be treated to a rare and exhilarating Hawk Walk on the stunning grounds of Lyrath Estate, just outside Kilkenny. Under the guidance of expert falconers, children and adults alike can handle majestic birds of prey in a safe and unforgettable setting—one of the most memorable hands-on experiences in Ireland. Continue on to the medieval city of Kilkenny for your overnight stay, where you’ll be surrounded by castles, cobbled streets, and family-friendly charm.
There are all kinds of accommodations to choose from in this atmospheric city. Butler House (centre of town) and Mount Juliet Estate (countryside) are two of our favourites.
-
Day 3: Kilkenny – Blarney Castle – Killarney
Leave the medieval magic of Kilkenny behind as your chauffeur guides you through the rolling hills of County Cork to one of Ireland’s most legendary landmarks: Blarney Castle. Kids will love climbing the spiral staircases to kiss the famous Blarney Stone, while parents can enjoy panoramic views and stroll through the mystical Poison Garden and 60 acres of lush grounds filled with hidden nooks and fairy-tale landscapes.
After your castle visit, continue west toward Killarney, a town known for its vibrant atmosphere and family-friendly hospitality. Along the way, you’ll enjoy scenic countryside views from the comfort of your luxury vehicle, with your driver on hand to tailor stops to suit your family’s interests. Arrive in Killarney in the late afternoon—perfectly placed for the adventures to come.
-
Day 4: Killarney – Ring of Kerry – Muckross Traditional Farms – Killarney
Today’s journey takes you along the spectacular Ring of Kerry, a panoramic drive that showcases some of Ireland’s most breathtaking scenery. Your private tour allows for a flexible, child-friendly pace with photo stops at Moll’s Gap, Ross Castle, Ladies View, and Waterville, and time to explore quaint villages like Sneem and Killorglin.
In the afternoon, step back in time with a visit to Muckross Farms Traditional Farms, where children can experience old-world Ireland through interactive farming displays, thatched cottages, and farm animals. It’s a hands-on heritage experience that’s both fun and educational. Return to your accommodation in Killarney for a relaxed evening after a day filled with fresh air, laughter, and learning.
Elegant Irish Tours tip: why not ask us to arrange a jaunting car (horse drawn carriage) trip through the Killarney National Park?
-
Day 5: Killarney – Cliffs of Moher Cruise – Burren Farm – Galway
Today’s itinerary takes your family from Killarney up the Wild Atlantic Way toward the iconic Cliffs of Moher—but with a twist. Instead of viewing from the usual lookout, you’ll board a Cliffs of Moher cruise, offering a thrilling and less-crowded vantage point from the sea. Children will be mesmerized by the towering cliffs, seabirds, and maybe even a dolphin or two.
Next, visit a working Burren Farm, where your family can engage with Ireland’s unique karst landscape through farm walks, animal encounters, and tasting sessions featuring local produce. It’s a meaningful, earth-connected experience perfect for children who enjoy nature. End your day in the lively city of Galway, where street music and medieval charm welcome you to the west.
There are accommodations of all kinds to choose from in Galway city but our personal favourite is Glenlo Abbey for Old Worlde charm in the suburb of Bushy Park.
-
Day 6: Galway – Connemara - Kylemore Abbey - Lough Corrib Cruise – Dublin
Your final day begins with a journey deep into the heart of Connemara, one of Ireland’s most strikingly beautiful and unspoiled regions. Travel through winding mountain roads and past sparkling lakes to reach the iconic Kylemore Abbey, a fairy-tale castle nestled against a wooded hillside. Families will enjoy exploring the Victorian Walled Gardens, walking lakeside trails, and learning about the fascinating history of the Benedictine nuns who still reside here. The setting feels straight out of a storybook—an experience that captures imaginations of all ages.
In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing and scenic cruise on Lough Corrib, Ireland’s second-largest lake, departing from the charming village of Cong. With its calm waters, island-studded views, and commentary that brings local legends to life, the cruise offers a peaceful and memorable way to end your family adventure. Afterward, your private chauffeur will escort you back to Dublin, where you can reflect on a week of luxury, learning, and unforgettable shared moments in Ireland.
