WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY EXCLUSIVE TOUR?
Your expert guide and luxury vehicle will meet you at your preferred Dublin pickup point – it is the time to set off on your magical adventure of Southern Ireland. Your 2.5 hour drive towards the west coast will be broken by a refreshment stop in the heart of the Irish midlands. Your first stop on Ireland’s west coast will be in the charming and traditional village of Cong. The village was made famous as the location of the Hollywood hit film ‘The Quiet Man’. The charming Ashford castle and Cong Abbey are well worth a visit during your time here in Cong. Departing Cong, you’ll set out for a stunning drive through the beautiful and barren landscapes of Connemara. Beautiful mountains, lakes and valleys are situated throughout Connemara – a region which retains a truly old fashioned Irish way of life. Indeed- you’ll often be greeted by locals in the native Gaelic tongue – as Connemara is one of the very few regions to retain the language in daily life. Our drive takes us along Galway bay, where you’ll enjoy captivating views out over the Atlantic Ocean, before arriving into the bohemian and historic city of Galway. Enjoy plenty of leisure time to enjoy the city’s highlights, including the narrow streets filled with traditional Irish music ‘buskers’, the Spanish Arch and Eyre Square. Your overnight stay will be in this lively city – be sure to enjoy some of the city’s famous seafood, a pint of the ‘black stuff’ and a good sing-a-long to Irish classics such as ‘Galway Girl’ and ‘The Irish Rover’.
Enjoy a traditional Irish breakfast in Galway before setting out on your second day of this fantastic tour. Cruising down the west coast – enjoy the views of lush Atlantic beaches – where visitors often spot dolphins and whales out beyond the surf. We’ll make a stop at the unique geological ‘Burren region’ – a lunar landscape, which is millions of years old and home to flora of Mediterranean, Arctic and Alpine origins (the only such region in the world). This area plays a key role in the history of the Irish Potato Famine – listen in as your guide elaborates on this devastating period of Irish history – which sent millions of emigrants to North America and further afield. We make our next stop at Ireland’s most fascinating natural attraction – the Cliffs of Moher. Often considered the most scenic cliffs on the continent – the Cliffs of Moher tower more than 700feet over the wild Atlantic Ocean and boast fantastic views of the Aran Islands and twelve pins mountain range. Enjoy an amble along the Cliff’s edge, taking in the views. Pay a visit to the Cliffs of Moher visitor experience – which houses interesting exhibits, a gift outlet and a café. You’ll depart the Cliffs of Moher, heading across the river Shannon towards Limerick city. Our final stop today is at the beautiful Adare Heritage Town – home to traditional thatched cottages and frequent winner of the title of ‘Ireland’s tidiest town’. Your overnight stop is in Co Kerry – where you’ll enjoy super traditional food, music and nightlife.
Your third day of touring Ireland’s beautiful south will begin by driving across the mountains of Cork and Kerry, en route to Ireland’s most famous castle – Blarney! You’ll have ample time to visit this historic castle and the extensive gardens which surround it. Be sure to allow time to kiss the Blarney Stone – which is rumoured to bestow upon you the ‘gift of the gab’ (that Irish characteristic of expressive speech and storytelling!). During your time in Blarney – there’s a chance to visit the ‘Blarney Woolen Mills’ – an extensive, tax-free shopping haven, where you can stock up on traditional Irish knitware and unique gifts. A relaxing lunch stop can be enjoyed here in the area, before you continue on, enjoying a drive through the fabulous ‘Golden Vale’ area. The ‘Golden Vale’ is a rural, agricultural region, full of characteristic green fields and a lovely place for a relaxing and scenic drive. You’ll make a short stop at the historic ‘Rock of Castle Dunamese’ – a site steeped in ancient Celtic history. Enjoy the opportunity to take some photos and stretch your legs here – this is the final stop of your journey and is followed by a luxury return drive to Dublin City.
